YOUR TALENT DOESN'T MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL - Here's what does!

Peter Drucker, the father of modern management said, "There seems to be little correlation between a man's effectiveness and his intelligence, his imagination, or his knowledge...Intelligence, imagination and knowledge are essential resources, but only effectiveness converts them into results. By themselves, they only set limits to what can be contained".

The talents (gifts) of most people are greater than their person. By this I mean, the talent of some people are greater than other important personal attributes, such as, character and commitment. As a result, they often fail to rise to the level of their talent. More important than your talent is the ability to develop true character, effectiveness, creativity and passion. The key choices you make- apart from the natural talent you have- will set you apart from others who have talents alone. This is the key to success. Your areas of strength (talent) is maximized only by the efforts you put to it.  It is these efforts that translates talents into results.

Some choices for success do not require talent, choices such as; perseverance, punctuality, effort, humility, love, patience, tenacity and focus. This choices ultimately do not require talent but are more important to achieving greatness in life than talent is. Talents stands you out but, wrong personal qualities seats you down.

I am ultimately not trying to underrate the power of our talents here, I am only trying to throw more light as to why we need more than what is naturally given to excel. Everyone is gifted, talented and blessed in a way but, those gifts does not culminate into giving us what we desire from life. If left raw and unprocessed they remain as worthless and ordinary as it may be.

Happy New Month, readers!
